Step 1: Develop 4 sets of short highly engaging literary reading passages that [grade level] students can use to identify theme. Each passage needs to have one two-part multiple choice question. Part one needs to be multiple choice at DOK 2 and have students identify the theme of the passage. Part two needs to be multiple choice at DOK 2 or 3 and have students choose a piece of evidence to support the theme from part one. Step 2. Ask for an answer key that also includes a rationale for each answer choice written so teachers can use it to explain theme and evidence to students.

Write a February 2025 newsletter from Mr. Jones, Washington Elementary School principal celebrating the 100th day of school and expressing gratitude for all of the parent help during the Valentine’s Day classroom parties. Upcoming events include parent teacher conferences on Feb. 25 from 4:00-7:00 pm (sign up using the link teachers sent in a separate email), Pancake Breakfast on March 1 from 8:00-10:00 am, music concert March 10 at 6:00pm at the high school auditorium. Remind parents that the book fair will happen during parent teacher conferences and they should consider purchasing books from teacher wish lists for classroom libraries. Also remind parents to be careful when dropping students off at school. There have been too many near accidents and student safety is paramount.
