Create numeracy activities for years 7 and 8
IEP Goal Plan
Create an IEP goal plan for 8th grade student who is 14 years old on the autism spectrum. The student is currently below grade level in both reading and math. The student does well with structure and consistent behavior expectations and has an excellent memory of history facts. The student struggles to socially interact with peers and becomes dysregulated in loud spaces such as the cafeteria and gym.
Exemplar
Imagine you are a plant living in a big garden. What type of plant are you? Write about your day in the garden. How do you grow? What do you need to stay healthy? Do you have any animal friends, like bees or birds, who visit you? Be sure to include details about what makes you special and what it's like being a plant!
Word of the Day
Introduce a new word each day and ask students to define it, use it in a sentence, and identify synonyms and antonyms.
Unit Plan
Create a unit plan for a grade 11 AP U.S. History unit on the Great Depression. Include a unit summary. Write key learning targets aligned to Advanced Placement content standards. Include an essential driving question, key vocabulary, and summative assessment strategies for the unit. List what students should know and be able to do by the end of the unit.
Student Interest
My students love [interest/movie/topic]. We are studying [topic]. Make a connection between these two things to help boost student interest in learning about [topic].
Scaffolding Assignments with Stations
Create an assignment that is challenging for [grade level] students who have a strong understanding of [topic], but also provides support and scaffolding for students who are struggling with the material. Develop this assignment so that I may have [#] stations in my classroom. Make the stations so that when they master this station they go to another station based on their needs. Students may or may not visit all stations based on their needs.
Passages with 2 part questions
Step 1: Develop 4 sets of short highly engaging literary reading passages that [grade level] students can use to identify theme. Each passage needs to have one two-part multiple choice question. Part one needs to be multiple choice at DOK 2 and have students identify the theme of the passage. Part two needs to be multiple choice at DOK 2 or 3 and have students choose a piece of evidence to support the theme from part one. Step 2. Ask for an answer key that also includes a rationale for each answer choice written so teachers can use it to explain theme and evidence to students.
Vocab Quiz
Create a vocab list with quiz questions and answers.
Admin Newsletter
Write a February 2025 newsletter from Mrs. Smith, Lincoln Middle School principal celebrating the end of the first semester and celebrating students who made the academic honor roll. Also congratulate the student council for their successful food drive and the basketball team for their undefeated season. Upcoming events include parent teacher conferences on Feb. 25 from 4:00-7:00 pm (sign up using the link teachers sent in a separate email), open house for 8th graders to learn about the high school on March 5 at 6:00 pm at Jefferson High School, registration for next year courses starts March 1, and music concert March 15 at 6:00pm in the auditorium. Remind parents to make sure they keep money in their student's lunch account to avoid negative balances. Also remind parents of upcoming construction at the middle school starting in April that will impact the parking lot and student drop off procedures. More information will be coming as construction begins.
