How is Brisk different from other AI teaching tools?

Brisk stands apart because it works exactly where teachers already teach. Our Chrome extension sits inside the tools educators use every day - online textbooks, Google Docs, Slides, PDFs, images, and more - so teachers can create materials, check student work, and give feedback without ever leaving their workflow. No copying, pasting, exporting, or juggling tabs.

The result: real time saved, higher-quality materials, and instruction that stays aligned to standards and curriculum.

While many AI tools generate generic content or focus on single tasks, Brisk is built for whole-class instruction at scale. It helps teachers do the work that actually drives learning:

  • Give feedback to entire classes, not just one student at a time.
  • Surface meaningful insights that reveal what students understand—and what to do next.
  • Create differentiated resources in any format or language through one simple workflow.

Brisk is designed around how teachers truly think about their job: support every learner, manage the whole class, and keep instruction moving.

And unlike other tools, Brisk doesn’t stop at insights. It’s the only platform that recommends high-quality, ready-to-use resources directly tied to what those insights reveal. Teachers get actionable next steps and matching materials they can use immediately—creating a natural, continuous cycle where student work drives better instruction.

Bottom line: Brisk helps teachers turn everyday classroom moments into meaningful learning growth - quickly, accurately, and without changing the way they already work.

Is Brisk a browser extension or a standalone web application?

Brisk is both, each designed for a different kind of teaching workflow.

  • The Brisk browser extension supports 1:1 teaching moments - giving instant support directly within tools like Google Docs, Slides, and across the web. Teachers can generate materials, differentiate, and give personalized feedback seamlessly inside their existing workflows. Install here.
  • The Brisk web experience (accessible at app.briskteaching.com) powers 1-to-many workflows - helping teachers manage and scale classroom-wide tasks like bulk feedback and multi-student insights. It also includes Brisk Next, a central workspace where teachers can choose a subject or topic and instantly get everything they need - lesson materials, practice activities, assessments, and extension ideas - all personalized and organized in one place to make planning efficient and instruction more cohesive.

Can Brisk inspect writing for AI-generated content?

Yes. Brisk helps teachers understand how students wrote, not just what they turned in, which is essential for supporting academic integrity and authentic learning.

With Brisk’s Inspect Writing tool, you can watch a video-style replay of a student’s full writing process in Google Docs, from first steps to final draft. You’ll see:

  • When students wrote, including timestamps and how long the work took
  • What they typed, edited, added, or deleted
  • Where text may have been pasted in
  • How they responded to feedback and revision prompts

This helps teachers verify authentic work, understand each student’s thinking, and pinpoint exactly where support or instruction is needed.

Learn more and try Brisk’s “Inspect Writing” tool here.

Is Brisk a tool for students?

Yes, Brisk Boost is a student-facing activity experience, but every activity is fully created, customized, and controlled by the teacher. Brisk generates the activity based on the learning objective the teacher selects, and the teacher reviews and tweaks everything before assigning it. Students only engage with activities the teacher has approved.

With Brisk Boost, teachers turns any online resource — a Google or OneDrive Doc, slide deck, webpage, video, etc. — into an interactive learning experience. As students respond, Brisk adapts in real time to meet them where they are, offering support personalized to their understanding and needs.

Teachers maintain full visibility and control over everything students do. Brisk provides:

  • Actionable insights into student strengths, misconceptions, and progress
  • Real-time engagement data
  • The ability to instantly generate targeted next-step resources to address learning gaps or extend learning for students who are ready for more

Brisk Boost helps teachers deliver personalized teaching at scale - while maintaining control and oversight, always.

Learn how to Boost a resource here.

Can I align Brisk content to standards (e.g., Common Core)?

Yes. With Brisk’s Schools & Districts plan, you can align everything you create in Brisk — lessons, quizzes, worksheets, activities, and even feedback — to academic standards.

Brisk includes a robust library of standards (including Common Core and more) that teachers can select from directly in the workflow. These standards can be applied when generating materials or leaving rubric-aligned feedback.

Districts can also request custom or local standards to be added to their Brisk environment.

Does Brisk support multilingual learners?

  1. Translate any text instantly into 50+ supported languages using Brisk’s AI translation tool - perfect for creating multilingual versions of worksheets, quizzes, directions, and parent-facing materials.

Extensions let you customize how your browser works. For example, you might use one to block ads, check your grammar, or save articles to read later.

Once installed, an extension usually appears as a small icon in the top-right corner of your browser. You can click it to use its features without opening a new tab or website.

Brisk is a browser extension, which means it works directly inside the tools and websites you already use.

How do I install the Brisk Teaching extension?

How to install the Brisk extension in your Google Chrome browser:

  1. Go to the Brisk Teaching extension page in the Chrome Web Store, or go to the Brisk Teaching homepage and click the Add For Free button in the upper right.

  3. Brisk should now show up under your Extensions! Click on the extension to activate it on your webpage.

How to install the Brisk extension in your Microsoft Edge browser:

  2. Click the Get button in the upper right. Brisk should now show up under your Extensions.
  3. From there, you can create Microsoft-compatible resources and save them to your OneDrive.
How do I pin Brisk to my browser toolbar?
  1. After you've installed the Brisk Teaching Chrome extension or the Edge Add-on, click on the Extensions menu in your browser's toolbar.
  2. Click on the Pin icon next to the Brisk Teaching extension.
  3. A shortcut for the Brisk extension will be added to your toolbar.

Daten und Datenschutz

Is Brisk FERPA and COPPA compliant?

Yes, Brisk is FERPA and COPPA compliant. Learn more about our privacy, security, and compliance standards at our Privacy Center.

Yes, Brisk is SOC 2 compliant as of October 2025. Please consult our SOC 2 report here.

Brisk Teaching speichert Benutzereingaben (z.

How is my data used or stored?

Our Privacy Policy outlines exactly what information we collect and how we use it, but here’s the high-level overview:

Brisk Teaching aims to access only the minimum amount of data necessary to provide meaningful support for teaching and learning. We treat all student information as confidential and never use it for any purpose other than delivering the Brisk Teaching service to schools.

Brisk only accesses data in the specific moments when you choose to use a tool. For example:

  • If you ask Brisk to adjust the reading level of a webpage, Brisk needs access to the text on that page.
  • If you ask Brisk to give feedback on student work, it needs access to that piece of student work to generate feedback.

Brisk never accesses data outside of what you intentionally use the tool on.

Brisk Boost FAQ's

Why did Brisk create Brisk Boost?
Brisk Boost was created to harness the power of AI to enhance student engagement and learning.
With Boost, we hope to help teachers:
  • Engage Students: Use AI to create interactive and responsive learning experiences.
  • Assess Students: Provide real-time assessments to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Promote AI Literacy: Help students develop a deeper understanding of AI and its applications.
What is the value of learning objectives and giving students visibility into their learning objective progress?
Making learning objectives visible to students gives them some ownership of their learning. The purpose of the activity and the knowledge and skills they need to demonstrate are clear to the learner.
What grade level and subject areas is Boost best designed for?
Because students need to be able to read for learning and have fine motor skills for keyboarding, Boost is most appropriate for any subject area in grades 4-university.
How can I ensure Brisk Boost is safe for my students?
Teachers have visibility into all student chats with Brisk Boost, and students can only access Boost via a direct link from their teacher. Additionally, Brisk flags student chats that include profanity, insults, and violence to teachers.
How do I get the student facing extension for feedback?
The student facing extension is part of the Brisk for Schools & Districts plan.
As a teacher, how do I boost a resource to students?
  • From a website, google doc, google slide deck, or google form, open the Brisk chrome extension.
  • Click Boost student activity.
  • Select an activity for your student
  • Select language, grade level, and (optionally, for Brisk for Schools & Districts) standards.
  • Click Create Activity.
  • Review the Learning Objectives and Role, and modify as needed. Click Preview.
  • Preview and adjust the student view as needed.
  • To share the activity with students, click Share. If sharing a google resource, make sure you have adjusted permissions on the google resource.
  • Select the class that you want to share with and click Share.
  • Share the activity link with your students over email or through your LMS
How do students engage with Boost?
  • Paste the link your teacher shared into a browser window
  • Boost will ask you questions in the chat. Answer Boost’s questions or ask Boost for help if you’re stuck.
  • As you answer Boost’s questions, you’ll see your Learning Objective Progress.
  • Once you have completed all Learning Objectives, you’re done!
How do I know when students have completed the boosted activity?
Each activity has a progress page, where teachers can see each student’s progress against objectives.
How can I tell if my student is engaging inappropriately?
Making learning objectives visible to students gives them some ownership of their learning. The purpose of the activity and the knowledge and skills they need to demonstrate are clear to the learner.
  • As a teacher you can see all of your students’ conversations with Boost.
  • From an activity that you have assigned to students, click “View” next to the student whose chat you want to view.
  • From there, you can see your student’s chat history with Boost.
My students didn’t finish their work. Can Brisk Boost save in progress conversations?
Yes! Boost saves progress in conversations if they are signed in with their email. With emailless login, students could lose their work if they don’t stay signed into Boost on the same device.
My students don’t have google emails. How can they use Boost?
A blue and white sign that says "Brisk: Get Started".
  • When you share your activity’s link, students can enter their name to get access to the activity. They won’t be able to log back in to see their work once they exit the activity.
  • Even if students don't have a Google email, they can sign into Boost using their email address. The first time students join your class, they will enter their email address and receive an email to verify their account.
  • If you'd prefer for students to not use email to sign in: When you share your activity’s link, students can enter their name to join the activity. They will need to stay logged in on the same device in order to return to the activity or see any past work. Signing out or switching devices will start a new session.
Is there a way for the teacher to add students to the class before sharing an activity link?
Not at the moment! Teachers always need to share a link to enroll students.
Brisk Boost isn’t working for me…what should I try?
a. The learning objectives and chat don’t match the content of the resource I’m using:
  • YouTube – make sure the video has a thorough transcript (you can click Show Transcript in the video description). If it doesn’t try picking another video on the topic.
  • Web page – see if you can create other resources about this web page with Brisk. If not, there may be some technical issues with our ability to read the website. Please report a bug.
  • PDF – not available yet! We’ll add the ability to Boost a PDF soon :).
  • Google Docs should always be a safe option, so you can copy and paste any material or write a quick blurb on a topic in a Google Doc and Boost from there.
b. I don’t know how to get back to Brisk Boost
  • Open the Brisk Teaching extension
  • Click “Boost student activity”
  • Click My Activities to see all of your Boost activities (you can also bookmark this page https://app.briskteaching.com/teacher_home
  • Click Open next to an activity to monitor the activity name
c. I want to turn off the ability for a student/class to interact with this activity
For a class:
  • Open up an activity
  • Click the Pause button at the top of the activity page
  • Or, click the pause icon next to an activity name on the My Activities page
For a student:
  • Open up an activity
  • Click the pause icon next to a student’s name
d. I don’t want students to see the learning objectives
  • On the Preview step, uncheck the learning objectives checkbox.
  • On the activity page, you can click the pencil icon to go back to the Preview step. There, you can uncheck the learning objectives checkbox.
e. I want to create a closed note check for understanding and don’t want students seeing the resource I Boosted
  • On the Preview step, uncheck the Source checkbox.
  • On the activity page, you can click the pencil icon to go back to the Preview step. There, you can uncheck the Source checkbox.
How can my students use Boost to get feedback on their work? I thought that’s what Brisk Boost is?
Brisk Boost is Brisk’s student-facing product! It will offer many student-facing features. Our September launch is an AI chat companion where students engage in learning activities and show what they know on various topics. Later in the fall, we will launch a student Chrome extension where students can get feedback on their work. This feature is only available on our Brisk for Schools & Districts plan.
