I teach both AP Language and Composition and AP Literature and Composition classes. To say that I grade a lot of writing is an understatement! The best thing Brisk has done for me is allow me to give immediate feedback. I upload the AP rubric and ask for "targeted feedback" because after trying out the various options, this is what my students found most useful for revision purposes. This has changed my routine with teaching how to write exam responses. Now, I give the students a prompt and ask them to write it in one class period (the equivalent of time given on the test). I make them turn it in no matter how good it is. Then I run it though Brisk for feedback. I return the essay and students swap papers with the feedback and give peer responses to the feedback and offer suggestions for how to address it. This is done with Comments. Finally, I ask the writer to look at both peer and Brisk feedback and write their plan for their revisions also in a comment. Then they do those revisions and submit the whole thing for a grade. I cannot express how much this has improved my students' writing AND also helped me when I finally read the papers and grade them myself! The other tool I use the most is "Inspect Writing" to check for copying and pasting. I no longer have to accuse kids of cheating...I just tell them they copied and ask for a version that shows their writing process (most can't). If they can, then they get a grade. If they can't, I won't grade it at all. GAME CHANGER! By now, the end of the year, they know I do this for both big and small assignments. Very few try to use AI or their friends to cheat on assignments or writing. It isn't worth doing .

Brisk has been a total game-changer for my teaching! As a middle school creative photography and digital design teacher, time is always tight — but Brisk has helped me work smarter.
